Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what personal data is collected when you use this website and how it is used. This site is operated by Bernd Ruecker in association with Camunda Services GmbH.

1. Data We Collect

This website does not use cookies and does not collect data passively. Personal data is only collected when you voluntarily submit the early access request form.

The form collects the following fields:

• Name (required)
• Email address (required)
• Role / job title (optional)
• Organisation (optional)
• Reason for interest (optional, free text)
• GDPR consent acknowledgement (required)
• Marketing opt-in (optional, separate consent)

2. Purpose and Legal Basis

Your data is processed for the following purposes:

• Processing your early access request — to review your request, send you a copy of the manuscript, and follow up as needed. Legal basis: your explicit consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
• Informing you about the book's publication — only if you opted in separately. Legal basis: your explicit consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

3. Data Processor: Tally

Form submissions are stored by Tally (tally.so). Tally acts as a data processor on our behalf. Their servers are located in the United States. A data processing agreement is in place with Tally covering EU data protection requirements.

4. How Long We Keep Your Data

Form submission data is retained until the book's publication date, or until you request deletion — whichever comes first. If you opted into marketing communications, we will retain your contact details until you withdraw that consent.

5. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data at any time
• Withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect lawfulness of prior processing)
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

To exercise any of these rights, email bernd@bernd-ruecker.com with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will respond within 30 days.

6. The Early Access Gate (localStorage)

The early access page uses your browser's localStorage to remember that you have entered a valid access code, so you are not asked to re-enter it on subsequent visits from the same device. This stores only a boolean value (earlyAccessUnlocked: true). No personal data is stored. localStorage data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server. It is not a cookie and requires no consent under GDPR.

7. Analytics

This website uses GoatCounter for privacy-friendly analytics. GoatCounter counts page views and records the visitor's country and browser type. It does not use cookies, does not track individuals across sessions, and does not collect IP addresses or any personally identifiable information. No consent banner is required under GDPR. GoatCounter's privacy policy is available at goatcounter.com/privacy.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
